Cycling & Walking

Schoorbakkehoeve lies in the heart of the Westhoek cycling paradise. Flat, safe and with a dense junction network — perfect for groups and families.

Westhoek & Yser Valley cycle network

Hop on your bike at the farmhouse and follow the signposted junction routes along the Yser, the polders and the canals. Flat terrain, so feasible for everyone.

Tip: Rent (electric) bikes in Diksmuide if you don’t bring your own.

A beautiful nature reserve around a historic castle, with walking paths through reed beds and past ponds. Birdwatching and tranquillity guaranteed.

The open polder landscapes around Schore are perfect for peaceful walks. Vast skies, grazing cows and absolute silence.

Plopsaland & Fun for children

Children on board? The coast is bursting with fun, with Plopsaland as the absolute highlight half an hour away.

Plopsaland De Panne

Belgium’s largest and most visited theme park, ± 30 minutes away. Over 55 attractions, six roller coasters and three water rides built around the Studio 100 characters (Maya, Bumba, Vic the Viking …). In 2026 the park celebrates its 25th anniversary with extra shows and the new family coaster ‘100% Wolf’. Next door: the indoor water park Plopsaqua.

Tip: Book online — cheaper than at the gate. Open daily in summer; in winter on Wednesdays, weekends and school holidays.

Solex Experience (Pervijze)Groups

Tour the polders as a group on nostalgic Solex mopeds — ‘the bicycle that rides itself’. Free rental or fully organised packages, for groups of up to 34 people. Literally around the corner, by the Schoorbakke bridge.

Tip: From age 16; with groups, a few children or seniors can ride along for free in the oldtimer Mehari.

Canoes, go-carts, raft trips, kayaks, pedalos, electric boats and more — a day full of water fun and adventure for the whole party.

De Zegge visitor farm and the children’s farm at the IJzerboomgaard: pet the calves, count the sheep and groom the ponies. Ideal for the little ones.

Meatier Farm Shop

Right next to the holiday home you’ll find our own farm shop with deliciously honest BBQ and farm meat from our own herd. Open Thursday and Friday from 8:30 to 17:00; ordered ahead via the webshop, pick-up is also possible on Saturday from 8:30 to 12:00.

Tip: Order your meat package in advance and the BBQ is instantly well stocked.
